I was asked to create a space station for an early-phase indie game project where players would pilot ships in third person and dock with external stations. This model was designed specifically for external viewing only, with the intention that a separate interior would be created later. Built as a real-time game asset with a triangle count of 93K, the station was developed for mid- to long-distance gameplay readability and visual impact.
Although the project later shifted to a different visual style and the asset was ultimately unused, the experience provided valuable practice in sci-fi environment modeling and real-time optimization for large-scale structures.
Responsibilities:
• Modeled a detailed, large-scale space station using modular design principles and clean topology.
• Created optimized UVs and baked maps for real-time PBR texturing.
• Designed with third-person spaceflight gameplay in mind—focusing on clear silhouette and surface readability from a distance.
• Delivered the model with real-time engine performance and integration in mind.
Key Achievements:
• Completed a 93K tri, real-time-ready space station asset.
